There are few places that do dogs quite like Chelsea.
On Saturday 3 October, Duke of York Square becomes the setting for Chelsea Dog Day, and this year Tinka & Co. London will be there with The Dog Lounge, a temporary installation conceived as a place to stop, settle in and spend a little time together.
The occasion has been some time in the making. After the weather brought last year's plans to an abrupt end, The Dog Lounge will finally make its debut in the square this autumn.
A rather oversized place to settle
At its centre sits a specially made, 1.5-metre Tinka & Co. Snuggle Spot, an exaggerated interpretation of one of the house's signatures.
Created especially for Chelsea Dog Day, the piece transforms the familiar proportions of a dog bed into something deliberately unexpected: part resting place, part portrait setting and, for one day only, a small piece of Tinka & Co. in the middle of Chelsea.
Dogs are invited to make themselves at home.
Their humans may take photographs.
We suspect the former will be rather better at it.
At the Tinkaccino Bar
A day in Chelsea calls for refreshments.
Throughout the day, complimentary Tinkaccinos will be served from The Dog Lounge, with a menu created especially for canine guests.
Visitors will also be able to discover a considered edit of Tinka & Co. pieces and explore the fabrics, quilting and details behind the collection.
It is an opportunity to see the pieces away from the screen, meet the people who make them and discover our approach to creating objects for dogs that belong naturally alongside the rest of the home.
Something to wear home
To mark the occasion, dogs joining The Tinka Club at Chelsea Dog Day will receive a complimentary embroidered denim bandana, available while stocks last.
Made for the day and intended to live well beyond it, consider it a small souvenir from Chelsea.
Put it on, visit the Snuggle Spot and have the portrait taken.
Or don't.
Dogs rarely need much direction.
